The Courtenay Society

The Courtenay Society

This international society is for members of the Courtenay family, including distaff members, of all variations of the spelling of that name.

Its objects are:-

1. To promote and encourage links between members of the Courtenay family world wide, and to promote a sense of kinship.

2. To assist the study, research and exchange of historical and genealogical knowledge of the family by members.

3. To publish a newsletter.

4. To provide an organisation interested in, and supportive of, the continuing preservation of family records, objects, and other property having a close connection with the family wherever they are located.

The Society is an association of members and is administered entirely by its members.  The Headquarters are located at Powderham Castle, near Exeter in Devon by the kind permission of the Earl of Devon.

Members may consult the Courtenay Archives and genealogical records at Powderham Castle that are not generally available to the public.  Visits are by appointment, and all correspondence, including that by email, should be addressed to the Hon. Archivist at Powderham Castle.

The newsletter is published bi-annually and the Society holds a "Gathering" and AGM annually in the autumn.

WHEN YOU BECOME A MEMBER YOU WILL DISCOVER THAT YOU HAVE RELATIVES ALL OVER THE WORLD, AND MANY WILL BECOME YOUR FRIENDS!
